(Pics) Nature Center Inspired By Historic Hunting Grounds

Hunters have always had a very intimate knowledge of, and relationship with nature. So, when EFFEKT was asked to design a nature center in the Hareskoven Forest outside of Copenhagen, it’s no surprise their design is based on historic hunting pathways. Situated on part of “the old kings hunting grounds,” the star shape design gives a panoramic overview of forest – and while hunting is not the goal here, visitors can connect with these ancient traditions through the space.

The Nature Center, consisting of research facilities, a cafe, exhibition spaces and other rent-able rooms, has two observation options. The exterior offers different raised seating, while the interior’s three layer insulated glass offers viewing during the colder seasons. The entire floor structure is carved into the site’s hill.
